Plaster Carving
This is my favorite project so far. I love carving in general but with plaster its a lot easier and more fun for me because you can be easily creative with it. Materials we used is a milk carton or juice carton, water, plaster mix and carving tools. Our goal in this project was to imitate Henry Moore and it was to create an abstract form of a human. We learned what abstract means and a lot of people misinterprets and misuses the meaning of the word wrong. Abstract is the distortion of reality. So abstract does resemble something just in a different way, its not just random things put together. Thats not abstract.
I chose to imitate a face and decided to do it part human face and part skull face. i wanted something really funky, crazy, and weird. I wanted color to my piece so, thats why chose to use the blue and green colors for the face. I did not complete my teeth. I really wanted to but my sculpture cracked there for I had to stop working on the teeth because i was not willing to risk it.
